Happy Monday! What better way to celebrate Monday than with a giveaway! Right? :-)

Both the textile gift boxes and storage boxes come in a variety of fun fabrics. You can check out the fabric choices on their website.

Sunshine Award and A Sunny Home

Thank you to Sarah at Real Estate Style for awarding me the Sunshine Award recently. It made my day!

I'm supposed to pass the award on to 12 other blogs whose positivity & creativity inspire others in the blog world. Since there are so many awesome bloggers out there who do just that, it's really too hard to choose just 12. Therefore, I'm passing the award on to all of you. I'm constantly amazed at the creativity out there and it definitely adds sunshine to my day. Feel free to pass it on and spread the sunshine. :-)

A post talking about sunshine seemed the perfect place to share this home by designer Kathryn Chaplow (Photographer James Yochum) that was featured in the January/February 2008 issue of Home magazine (pointclickhome.com). I love her creative use of color. Makes me happy just looking at it. You can see the rest of the home here.

Giveaway tomorrow! Have a good day...

Stone Crabs For Andi

The pink dot on the right
is where I come from. Boca Raton, Florida.
The pink dot on the left is where we went to.
Everglades City.
For Andi's birthday her boyfriend flew in from Sweden.
And her father, myself and some other family friends headed over to Everglades City for some stone crabs, conch fritters, soft shell crabs, and key lime pie.
This is where the stone crabs come from for the famous
'Joe's Stone Crab' on Miami Beach!
We have to drive across the state through this.
Doesn't it look pretty from the air?
On the ground .....
But this is what it really looks like.
If you like weeds , snakes and gators.....
this is your kind of place.
Pythons and gators galore and fighting for turf.
Have you heard about all the 'loonie birds'
that have let their pythons go free in the Everglades?
Talk about irresponsible....
Well, it is a real mess.
But this is no mess.
This is the gold of Florida.
Our state prize.
Maine has Lobster, and we have stone crabs.

Don't freak out.
But, can you tell me what this is?
I will give you a hint.....it tastes like chicken.
That's my girl!
She loves her stone crabs!!
Not the stuff that 'tastes like chicken.'
I surprised her with a birthday cake.
Okay peeps,
what do you think?
Is he cute?
They met while being counselors at summer camp last year.
They are going back again this summer.
He is in college in Sweden, and studying law.
I like that.

*But let me get back to where we were......

FLORIDA'S LAST FRONTIER "EVERGLADES CITY and CHOKOLOSKEE, at the entrance to the Western Everglades, were two frontier outposts until 1923 when Barron Collier made Everglades City the seat of Collier County and supply depot for the construction of the Tamiami Trail. Prior to the boom, this isolated region was Florida's last outpost for fur trappers, plumage hunters, Cuban fishermen, and people with a disdain for modern civilization."

There is all kinds of history about this area.
Great stories.
The towns people actually killed the town bully.

The people that were 'wanted by the law' could safely live here.
It took law enforcement about 2 days to get out here.
A real city of outlaws in a lawless environment.

The man in the black and white picture....
this is a wax model of him
Note the fly swatter.
This place is uninhabitable from the spring months to fall.
There are mosquito's, nats , 'no-see-ums' (these are really bad),
I just don't know how they did it for an entire lifetime.
I had enough of the glades in this short visit.
I love nature, but not 'Everglades' nature.
To me is it scary.
Imagine being lost out there.
*Snakes, gators, panthers, and yes, we have panthers.
We took a few last pictures and packed up and headed home.
Hope you enjoyed our day trip.

Would you
drive through the everglades for stone crabs ?

Plants are a wonderful solution to bring life

1. Plants. Plants are a wonderful solution to bring life, literally, for you to fill the space and the people "What on earth do I put in this room" area.

2. Furniture does not fit. Please, I beg those who are looking for new furniture set, do not buy a complete set. This is not creative. If you already have furniture that is not a good fit for you! (Or, sorry it was you who took the couch from the curb and that's why you do not match the furniture.)

3. Art. How awesome is this artwork. Perfect contrasting colors and told by the art, you may be able to find some kids in Craigslists paint something similar to a bribe from the McDonald's gift cards.

Interior Design and Decorating Trends 2010: Paint Colors

Interior Design and Decorating Trends 2010: Paint Colors

The coming year, the painting and faux finishing will be greater than the use of wallpaper in the interior, as happened in the past. In the year 2009, we saw a lot of purple, blue, and metallic paint color. We will continue to see the purple in 2010, but in shades of light (like lavender). We also will see more pink - shades not girly, but lighter and more sophisticated pink - even used as the main color on the walls. And finally, because the green, crazy environment, a soft green palette will continue to appear in the house.

The Hall House was designed for a couple without a child in Shiga, Japan which wanted to have enough space for spare time activities on a small site. The house has parking lot, billiard-theater, dining-kitchen and bedroom with bathroom which all are contained in one hall changing their heights according to the slope of the front road. The frame made of reinforced concrete with about 180mm-thick walls in order to create soundproof environment. There are many exclusive things in the Hall’s House interior design like the glass bathroom, not isolated bedroom, rustic yet sophisticated look of concrete walls, unusual sloped roof and so on. It is great example of the new age’s architecture. [ALPHAVILLE]
